You might be familiar with those small black candies called "Wybertjes." They are rhombus-shaped, which always reminds me of one of the key principles of the Design Thinking methodology. The rhombus shape (also known as a diamond) represents divergence and convergence. This is an important principle for designers—think of architects, product designers, and, of course, UX designers. Also, check out Marjan's explanation in her YouTube video about the "double diamond."

What is the meaning of converging?Converging means meeting at a specific point. In UX design projects, this means, for example:
Designers (not only UX designers, but also product designers, service designers, or architects) use this principle time and again during their design projects. It helps them look at a problem from all angles, make well-considered decisions, and break down the process into smaller steps (diamonds). Do you want to practice diverging and converging? If you would like to do a concrete exercise on diverging and converging, subscribe for a UX/UI design course or request a coaching session on UX design with Marjan.
